Week 10

February 27, 2007

Week Total: 30.5kms

March 3, 2007 [6am]
Lisa and I went out for a 6km run. We went at a slightly faster pace then yesterday, and ran the course in reverse – for a change. Lisa is having a problem with her left left … I am sure she will be fine.

March 2, 2007 [6:30am]
Paul and I went out for a 6km run … did it in 36mins – just taking our time. It was a good run, but the old right leg is feeling a bit tight!

Feb. 28, 2007 [6:30pm]
Craig and I ran with the MTG – we did approx 10km. It was an excellent run, felt strong … ran well. Loved it!

Feb. 27, 2007 [6am]
Well it was great to be back out on the road again …
Craig and I did 8.5kms. We did a fairly relaxed pace, no stopping …. it was a great run!

Craig’s leg is getting better and it was a good ‘recovery’ run for me after doing 28kms on Sunday.

Weight update

February 26, 2007

When I started running, for sure my goal (besides the marathon) was to loose weight. I have not drastically changed my diet (I cut out 90% of the junk food) but I have been making healthier choices. When I started I was 235lbs, this morning I was 219lbs. That’s 16lbs!

Week 9 – snow bound

February 26, 2007

Week Total: 38km

Feb. 25, 2007 [8:30am]
This was the longest run to date. Lisa and I joined the MTG and did 28kms! Lisa ran with the ‘A’ group and I ran with the ‘B’ group. I was feeling really well until I hit 21kms. Then I started to fade. I was given the chance to turn back … no thank you. When I was about 2kms from the finish, they came by in a van and offered me a lift back … again no thank you. It was tough to say no but I wanted to put the distance in.

Feb. 24, 2007 [5:30pm]
Craig and I went to the track again. Just did 45mins of easy running due to the big run tomorrow!

Feb. 21, 2007 [7pm]:
Craig, Lisa and I went to the track at the University instead of running outside. The roads are just too narrow for my comfort zone. The good thing is we did 45mins of tempo running. Running without all the winter gear on was great! The bad part – running in circles!

Feb. 20, 2007:
Craig and I did about 3hrs of what we are calling ‘Cross Training’ which means we were shovelling snow! The city was shut down due to the snow storm from the night before. I found muscles I never knew I had!

Week 8

February 13, 2007

Weeks total: 38km

Feb. 18, 2007 [8:30am]
Lisa and I (Craig is still out with shin problems) ran with the MTG. It was not the most fun I have ever had. -19, windy …. the group ended up splitting up and losing each other. I did 20km and Lisa did 24km. It took me 2hr and 30mins. Can you say frozen? I took a gel and it had the opposite effect on me – I felt drained instead of energized! No more gels for me.

Feb. 17, 2007 [8:30am]
Paul and I ran 8km at a slow pace … out for a total of 60 mins. There was a lot of snow on the road. Love those hills!

Feb. 16, 2007
The weather and my general feeling of blah has kept me in out of the cold. I may take a run out tonight …. and then back at it tomorrow! This Sunday we are doing 24kms!
wOOt!

Feb. 13, 2007 [5:45am]
Craig and I headed out in the -8 blowing snow and ran in the subdivisions to try and stay out of the wind. I was a good run but with the snow on the ground, it did increase the effort. We were out for 75mins and put in 10km. It is a little disheartening as we were supposed to put in 12.9km. Not a huge deal, at least we got out there …. I can’t imagine getting up any earlier, so we are going to have to pick up the pace!

Marathon Update

February 12, 2007

I have registered for the Ottawa Marathon (May 27) … Booked a hotel room … and purchased a plane ticket … looks like I am going!

Week 7

February 6, 2007

Week total: 32km

Feb. 10, 2007 [8am]
Craig and I put in 18km with a couple of the other runners from the MTG. I was a great run, except my Garmin is acting funny and I wore the wrong socks … ended up with two blisters!!

Feb. 9, 2007
Missed my 8km run …. should have just done it first thing like I always do .. just goes to show … break the schedule and miss your run!

Feb. 7, 2007 [7pm]
Criag and I ran another 12km with the MTG in … you guessed it … the freezing cold! It was a great run considering when I started I was dog tired … but once I got going, the energy returned! We included tempo runs at 5mins x 4. Can you say … Feel the burn?

Feb. 6, 2007 [5:45am]
Ok … who knew it was -15 when we started our 12km run. Add to the fact that there was an inch of snow on the ground … jeesh! Craig, Paul, Lisa and I did in fact put in 12km this morning in 1hr 15mins. A pretty good run for a bunch of people who admitted they didn’t really want to be out on the road! Well done!!
